Smell herbs and spices

In the later stages of dementia, when you cannot do the activities you used to, try to communicate through the senses. Some of our strongest memories are triggered by odor. However, the ability to smell decreases as one gets older. Find herbs, spices or other foods with a predominant smell. Try not to make it into a game, rather talk about what you experience. “These coffee beans smell chocolate”. “This oregano makes me want pizza”.
